Questions and answers
Common questions from server owners and staff. Can’t find yours? Ask in our Discord server.
Getting started
How do I add CodeFour to my server?
Press Add to Discord, pick your server and approve the permissions. You need to own the server or have Manage Server there. You land on your server’s dashboard straight after, and CodeFour starts learning your server’s public information channels.
Is CodeFour free?
Yes. Adding CodeFour and using its features is free.
Why does CodeFour ask for so many permissions?
Each permission is for a feature: managing channels to create tickets, managing roles for role menus and the whitelist, moderating members for warnings and timeouts, creating threads for support channels, and reading messages so it can answer questions. You can remove permissions you don’t need. The features that rely on them stop working, and the rest carry on.
Can my staff use the dashboard?
Anyone with Manage Server can. You can also give dashboard access to specific roles in Settings. Deleting the server’s data always needs Manage Server.
The assistant
Where does the assistant get its answers?
From your server: the public information channels it learns from, like #rules and #faq, the documents and links your staff add under Knowledge, and tickets your staff have solved. It also checks whether your FiveM server is up. When it doesn’t know something, it says so rather than guessing.
Will it paste our rules back at people?
No. It answers the question that was asked, in its own words, and points to the right channel. If an answer comes out as a copy and paste of your rules, it’s reworded before anyone sees it.
What happens when it can’t help?
It hands over to staff. In a ticket, it writes a short briefing and pings your team. In a support channel, it offers the member a private ticket or pings staff, whichever you choose.
Can I keep it away from certain topics?
Yes. Give it house rules in its instructions, switch it off for ticket categories like refunds, and pick roles it never answers.
FiveM
Do I need to install anything on my FiveM server?
Not for live status and down alerts. For the Discord role whitelist, real player names and join and leave logs, download the codefour_bridge resource from your dashboard. It comes already set up for your server, so you only add one line to server.cfg.
My server isn’t on the Cfx.re server list. Can I still use CodeFour?
Yes. Link it by IP address and port instead of a cfx.re/join link, and install the bridge resource to see player names.
What happens to the whitelist if the bot goes offline?
By default, players are kept out until the bot is back and asked to try again in a minute, so nobody slips in unchecked. You can change this in the resource’s config file. A server that has never reached the bot doesn’t block anyone.
Privacy and data
What does CodeFour store?
What it needs for the features your server uses: tickets, support questions, settings, stats and what it learns from public channels. The privacy policy lists everything and how long each kind of data is kept.
How do we delete our server’s data?
Open Settings in your dashboard and use Delete this server’s data. It’s removed straight away. If you remove CodeFour from your server instead, its data is deleted automatically after 30 days.
Can members have their data removed?
Yes. Members can ask your staff, or open a ticket in our Discord server, and we’ll delete what CodeFour holds about them in every server.
Is our data used to train AI?
We don’t train AI models on your data. To write an answer, CodeFour sends the relevant text to our AI provider, which handles it under its own terms.
